![]() This will help you unlock multiple achievements along the way to completing the story, and reduce the amount of work later on. It will also help level up your characters as you fight more enemies. ![]() If you ever die during a level, it really doesn't hurt you much. You keep all your experience, money, souvenirs, and items required for side-quests. The only thing you lose are run-specific things like graces, relics, runes, and charms. Oh, a note on the characters: these all unlock as part of the story and mirror traditional role playing archetypes. John is a Warrior with a useless shield but a big attack arc that can kill groups of enemies. Linda is an Archer who can shoot while moving and avoid direct combat. Kevin is a thief/assassin who can move quickly and dodge attacks while building up a frenzy to put out huge damage. Lucy is a mage who can only attack while stationary but can build up a lot of projectiles quickly. Mark is a Monk who can move quickly from enemy to enemy with hand-to-hand attacks. Joey is a Tank who has a ton of health and hits very hard but moves very slow. I liked Linda to kite enemies and her two special moves were nice to stun and kill large groups of enemies when I got overwhelmed. Once you have completed the story, your next goal should be getting every hero to Level 20. This will unlock all the family traits, and continue unlocking more of the miscellaneous achievements for encounters and such. ![]() I would suggest playing levels in areas where you still need souvenirs. These are the rarest items in the game, so if you have all of them from the first portal for instance, running this area will be fairly useless (plus it has the least amount of money and experience). Note: Be sure to get the achievement for killing a boss without taking damage prior to leveling up John to 20. His final family trait gives constant health regen to all characters, which even if you start the fight at max health seems to stop the achievement from unlocking. You can fix this with an item called a "mysterious egg" to reset his ability points and remove that trait but these are rare, so it's best to unlock " Perfectionist" before getting John to Level 20. Now that all your characters are at Level 20, you can ignore enemies and focus on the random encounters if you still have anything left. Run through levels and check behind all the blue barriers to get whatever you're missing. ![]() Check the achievement guide below to figure out which areas to run and what to look for. ![]()
